Nenagh AFC 'B' 6 - Kilcommon/Rearcross FC U-14's 0

An understrength Kilcommon/Rearcross U-14 outfit with just 10 players available travelled to Brickfields on Saturday for this U-14 league opener and came out on the wrong side of a six nil score line. The Slieve Felim side put up a good show in the opening half and matched Nenagh for long spells but were dealt a succour blow when Thomas O’Dwyer sustained a leg injury which forced a re-jig of the team as the centre half took up the goalkeeping position. Kilcommon/Rearcross worked hard in the opening half with Brian Nolan, Eoin Sheldon and Cillian Kennedy coming close while a back four of Ailín Rochford, Ellie Kennedy, Thomas O’Dwyer and Tadgh McCormack were also impressive. The game swung after the injury as the hosts led one nil at the midway stage thanks to an Aaron Ryan goal. Kilcommon/Rearcross battled gallantly in the second half with good showings from Canice Ryan, Cian O’Toole and Cormac Sheehy, however Nenagh had too much strength in depth on this occasion and tacked on five unanswered goals with Colm Ryan adding a second before Tom McCutcheon hit the target four times to cap of a fine individual performance.
